Year 10 Fashion magazines

Here are some of the magazines that were done by one of our year 10 French classes. They were given the task to create a magazine in French as their end of year project. Themes and design were left very open to allow students to be creative and to write about their own interests. Fashion, music, cinema and TV proved to be very popular choices! Well-done to them all for their hard work, originality and creativity. The end products look great!

Pen pal project in Year 7

Year 7 pupils studying German this year have been writing pen pal letters to a school in the Saarland area, south-west of Germany. The letters are being sent this week and we are all very excited to be receiving replies hopefully before the end of the year! Here is a picture of our girls  holding their letters before we send them. Thank you year 7 German for an exciting end-of-year project!

Tile Hill Wood goes to Barcelona!

36 year 9/10 students and 4 staff set off on a trip to Spain and spent 4 days in the Costa Brava in May. We had an extremely busy time: we visited all the famous sights of Barcelona (Camp Nou, la Sagrada Familia, Park Guell, la Rambla, the port and Montjuic), had some great fun in the PortAventura Theme Park and we enjoyed our time on the beach.

Our students were great ambassadors for Tile Hill Wood!

LP World Championships 2013 - the results are in!

A massive well done to all our committed students competing before AND during half-term! We are looking forward to handing over the awards and prizes in assembly as soon as they arrive from New Zealand.

CPD - "Leading the Outstanding MFL Department"

We were proud to host the first cohort of "Leading the outstanding MFL department", run by the SSAT at Tile Hill Wood School and Language College. 23 Heads of Languages from as far as Rotterdam came together to discuss "Promoting a love of languages and cultural understanding". A wide range of workshops was delivered by our languages leadership team. Please find some of the resources and ideas here. We look forward to hosting this event again in October for cohort B.

I love MFL

Linguatrivia - and the winner is ...

...everybody! Our Year 7 girls had practiced very hard for the first national Linguatrivia French competition and all of them received their certificates, badges and Eiffel tower keyrings!
